Not exactly a blog entry, but we did laugh when we found out our van was being discussed on the forum of a “global online motorhoming community”, Motorhome Facts. CC stands for Caravan Club, we discovered. Click here to see it.

Pub Quiz and ‘Taste of Game’ Night at the Picton Inn
When we approached Gordon Miller, the landlord of the Picton Inn in Clarbeston Road, Pembrokeshire, about doing a Muddy Pub Quiz night, he suggested that we tied it in with the BASC ‘Taste of Game Week’ (10th – 17th November) and offered to put on a number of game dishes to try for free. We… Continue reading Pub Quiz and ‘Taste of Game’ Night at the Picton Inn
Frizbee Golf in Pembrokeshire
One of the things we have been interested in on this tour is weird and wonderful farm diversification projects so, when we heard about ‘frizbee golf’ on a farm in Pembrokeshire, we had to take a look. Richard and Dawn Lewis have been farming (beef, dairy and arable) at Slebech, near Haverfordwest, for nearly twenty… Continue reading Frizbee Golf in Pembrokeshire
BBC Radio Wales
This interview for the Jamie and Louise Programme was done from an unmanned studio in Pembrokeshire College. It was all a bit chaotic as Emma’s microphone didn’t work!
Wooly Shepherd’s Diary
After learning to make wool with Val Grainger, we get a mention in her blog. Click here.
The Bathurst Arms
Here’s a story that made us laugh while we were eavesdropping in the Bathurst Arms, near Cirencester, where we held one of our Pub Socials. The pub has just been awarded 2008 GOOD PUB GUIDE Gloucestershire Dining Pub of the Year and whilst we were there all the regulars were congratulating James, the landlord. It… Continue reading The Bathurst Arms
Muddy Wellies Ale at the RAC
When we were invited by Simon Corpe, the Chairman of Royal Agricultural College Entrepreneurs (RACE), to come to the college and have a taste of their new student-branded beer we couldn’t refuse…one, because we were intrigued to know what it would taste like, two, because much of this trip has been focussed on rural entrepreneurs… Continue reading Muddy Wellies Ale at the RAC
Cider making in Somerset
Deep in the heart of Somerset, Land’s End Farm, where Roger Wilkins makes his farmhouse cider, is a bit of a gem and, if you successfully manage to navigate the winding narrow roads that lead there (no mean feat in a motorhome) you will probably be in need of a drink! When we arrived, Roger… Continue reading Cider making in Somerset
The Royal Oak, Winsford
We ventured to Exmoor to put on one of our Pub Grub Nights and decided to try the Royal Oak in Winsford as we had heard the food was really good. After a blustery journey over some of the darkest, narrowest lanes we have encountered so far, we were greeted by Ed and Kirsty, the… Continue reading The Royal Oak, Winsford
Out and About with the Woolly Shepherd
Whilst in Somerset, we spent the day with Val Grainger – The Woolly Shepherd – to learn more about wool making. Val has her own flock of around sixty rare-breed sheep (mostly local Dorset Downs, but also Wensleydales, Shetlands and Ouessants) and a growing wool business, selling high-quality knitting and weaving wool. Teddy-bear faced Dorset… Continue reading Out and About with the Woolly Shepherd
